Default Tire Size on RUF 18" for a NB

I purchased a set of RUF 18" Wheels for my 1996 NB C2, they are Fronts: 18 x 8.5 et 58mm and Rears: 18 x 10 et 66mm. I've already run a search but did not find any definitive answers; What size tires (I do not plan on using spacers) are typically run on these? Stock 225/40 on fronts? The 8.5 on the front wheel size is throwing me. Would 295/30's work in the rear? Thanks Guys.......Mark.

I wonder if a 295 would rub in the back on a NB with the oil lines? I would do 993 RS tire sizes.

Mark- I run 225/40 on my 8.5 fronts. You can even do 235/40. On the rear, you can run 295 but I would stay with 285. I'd worry about rubbing on the strut side and not the fender side with the 295. You should have plenty clearance with ET 66. Keep in mind that the same size tire will vary from one make to another.

I'm kind of wondering too. The reason I ask on the 295/30's is that I stumbled into a set of wheels from a 996 Turbo with good tires mounted on them (225/40's on fronts) and was hoping to get lucky and use them.

It will depend on the tire. I had rubbing with 275/35 Dunlop Star specs, no rubbing with 285/35 Sumitomos or with 295/30 Hoosier R6. MY'02 10x18 et65. Lowered to RS+10 (ROW-10) ride height.

The tires are Continental SportContacts. Any advantage / disadvantage to going with 235/40's on the fronts vs. 225/40's other than less understeer?

The rear fitment (295/30's on 10" rim) is obviously what I'm looking to hear back on, it would be great to be able to save some jingle and use them on the RUF's. Is 285/30 or 35 the preferred size?

---Edit--- I just heard back from the seller I purchased the wheels from, he ran 225 / 40's on the fronts and 265 / 35's on the rears, he said the 265's were plenty enough. That surprises me, should it?

I have the same wheels on a 96' c2. I have 295's on the rear with custom spacers. I purchased the car that way and there is no rubbing or issues. the car is lowered on RS spec suspension.

I am running at RS + 5 and have 996 GT3 wheels on the rear which are 10" ET 65 and have to run 265/35 on the rear. I bought the wheels with a set of 285/35 Michelin PS (worn) on which were 285/35 and they will not fit.

Well, I'm starting to rule out the 295 Continentals due to responses. I asked another forum member which spacers to put on the car to get a more flush look with the RUF wheels, he suggested 5mm all around.

I run them on a NB. You'll need 225/40/18 fronts and 265/35/18 rears.

Thanks 1stgear. In your opinion would 285/30's be too big on the rears. Lastly, do you use spacers?

I would do 235 fronts and 285 rears if I had those wheels.

That's pretty much what I was wanting to do also but am afraid of rubbing in the rear.
