Default RS Motor mounts First impressions

Hey Group,

I posted this on the old site and it got lost in the ether during the change over:

"I recieved the motor mounts from Gert on Friday and took the time to put them in. I only had a few minutes to test drive the car but so far I am very impressed. The engine does not flop around with the clutch engagement now and it is much easier to get the car moving in reverse (don't ya love that gear ratio? I think it is like starting in second). Overall in the short drive the clutch engagement and shifting is much cleaner as the slop is out of the system."

So that was last week and I really only drove it around the nieghborhood enough to warm it up. Yesterday we went up north about 100 miles to a concert and got to run the car for a while in varying conditions. Shifting is much more positive and the clutch take up is much easier to control.

The sound is an unexpected bonus. When getting on the throttle there is a real nice growl that was not there before. I also did leave off the engine tray. So...should I atribute the better sound to the mounts or does the absense of the tray affect the sound at speed?

I really like the aggresive growling sound when I get on the throttle in between the howl from the Varioram which kicks in at two points across the power band. This is further enhanced by the motor sound (drilled by me) air box.

During cruising(2500 to 3000 rpm), the car is still nice and quiet without any vibration or noise so for me, it is the perfect combination. I want it quiet so I can cruise comfortably but when you are on it, you know it!

I know this may be blasphemy on this forum, but I found the RSRs to drone too much at cruise RPMs. I like the way the sound disapears behind you. This also gets accentuated by running 94 octane gas as the ignition is up to full advance.

Where do you buy 94 octane in Seattle?

I blend toluene which has been known to bring up some controversy on this board. I blend enough to get to 94 but not over 15 to 18 percent.

As it turns out, I follow the methodology that the petroleum engineer from shell wrote about in the Excellence magazine from about 2 months ago.

The car runs very sweet with it.

993Power,

I went through Gert and they were about $315 or so. The install was about an hour and a half. Well worth the upgrade!
