Default Inner wheel stamping, meaning?

What does the stamping mean in the pic, made 1997, SM,K1?

Also, does the stamping "GK-AL SI 12 MG WA" denote the composition of the wheel? These stamping are off a Porsche 993 hollow turbo twist wheel part#993.362.136.00. Thanks

My guess would be 4th month of 97 production for the box. The other stuff would be internal codes at bbs.

Wow, didn't even notice the dots. Kinda makes sense because the wheels came off a 1998 twin turbo. Interestingly the rears are 10x18et40 and the fronts are 8x18et52. Thanks for the input.

Could the k1 be a tire code?

Why would anyone put a tire code on a wheel?

They are some internal designations. SM (or STN) seems to be related to the model of the wheel. K1 seems to be some production designation as it seems to be added later than SM in the stamping process. Here's another set of wheels that seem to have K1 and SM designations: http://www.gumtree.com/p/cars-vans-m...pex/1040088075

SM is the wheel manufacturer and is German as I recall.

They made also the spare tire's wheel for 964 & 993 and probably others as well. Also the magnesium wheels for the 964 Carrera RS that look like Speedlines but are not.

The K stands for the rim contour specification.

The date code shows year and 4th month of manufacture as stated above.

I forgot, the "GK-AL SI 12 MG WA" is the DIN (Deutsches Institut für Normung) designation for the composition of the aluminum alloy used.

BTW, The hollow spoke Turbo wheels are a pretty special 2 piece wheel where the cast hollow spoke section is friction welded to a rolled wheel section.
