Default Rennline Track Mat Quick Help

So I'm installing a full race track mat in the driver's side. The problem is that the mat will not lay flat because of a small stud welded to the frame rail. You can see this stud in the bottom right corner of the first picture. Am I supposed to grind that off? It seems wrong to leave it there as is.

That stud is the attachment point for the factory mats I believe. It seems like it would be a good attachment point for the track mats. Too bad if you have to remove it, because it would also be a good way to attach the factory mats over the Rennline mat when not at the track. Anyway, I am also interested in the solution since I will be installing these soon too.

Did you order the rennline track mat for the 993? Mine came with a hole there for that stud. It's what holds it down. Mine doesn't have the two other holes yours has. I think you have the wrong one.

There are two versions of the mat, and presumably yours are the non race version, but I wonder why the race mats don't take advantage of the stud?

I also cut the stud off, but I suppose you can drill a hole in the rennline piece.

I'd drill a hole in the Rennline mat, keep stud as is.

I think this is a good idea. Drilling in the right place might be a pain though.

Thanks for the input. I think I'll just cut the stud off. I doubt it will be used in the future.

used a wire nut over the stud, fits tight and comes in many colors..holds the mat securely. No slide as in Toyota ! Yes, small hole in mat.

A hole in the mat would be a hell of alot more reversible then cutting the stud off, and it would securely hold the mat in place. Seems like a win win to me.

Could you just drill a hole in the Rennline mat then you always have the option of going back to factory and use the mats as well..
