Do you remember the shift lights on the Carrera 3.2's, they would tell you to shift at 2300rpm, it was ridiculous.
Tip has only 4 gears and the 4th in the tip is shorter than the 6th in the manual.

At 2200rpm you have about 80hp and 70-75% of available torque.
I'm going to follow advice of a guy who has 300k miles on his car and drive in the power zone (3k-6k rpm).

I am not sure that it is a problem, but I like to keep the revs up after reading everything around here and especially the 300k mile thread. I use 5th or 6th sometimes if I am not going up hill and just maintaining constant rpms. I would totally like the 5th moved to 6th and less rpm drop 1st to second, but it is not in my cards anytime soon. Knowing where the flaws are helps me drive more effectively

Budget $10-$11K for the regear alone (not including removal/replacement and shipping).

When I'm cruising I'll let the rpm drop to around 2500 rpm, but accelerating from there I downshift. 6th gear is only used at 80 mph and above. But on southern California freeways, practically everybody in the left two lanes is doing 80.

Its got nothing at 2200 rpm in 6th hence the lack in acceleration. To each his own
