993 GT2 EVO build thread "Winter project 2014"

I already ordered a 2011 CUP wing (Same as CUP S).
Oh yes you do! They are less than 10lbs/each. You save about 120lbs total.
We've got the flu whole family so we've been just resting at home today. But the DHL courier made my day by bringing a box of goodies from Rennline.
Mun ymmärtääkseni toi laskettu flat bottom sallittiin vain FIA GT1 luokassa.

We will also weld in new seat brackets so it is easy to fit in the standard bucket seats and sliders.

I got the 380mm Brembos from Spartan. They came wih new racing rings and hardware. These are the really big reds...
To my surprise, The caliper looked identical to the 993turbo/RS caliper. Even though this is a Brembo aftermarket caliper, i'm quite certain it is the same thing that you get wih the GT2 EVO part#, just with Porsche lettering.
The only difference to the turbo caliper is that the locking of the pads is with sliders and not with the spring,. This makes the caliper a lot thinner and that enables runing the 380mm discs with 18" wheels.
I'm sure you could use the 993tt calipers with same spacers and with 380mm discs under 19" wheels.
GT2 on left, turbo/rs on right
tt/rs on left, GT2 on right

Still street legal?
Juha, I may have missed the part you discussed about going from street legal to track only but I assume local katsastuskonttori is not going to see the Flamethrowing Chocolate Monster?
Or then Finnish rules have been relaxed substantially from the time I last time tried to get teeny-weeny-tiny modifications approved. That was 20 yrs or so ago when I tried to drop 3.0l inline-6 into a Opel Manta with 2.0l inline-4. Finnish DOT didn't fully appreciate the idea.

My friend came over tonight and cut the rest of the roof off. I'll tell you even that last bit of roof weighs around 20lbs!!
Next I take all the glass out. The windshield will be replaced with a heated glass, the rest will be lexan.
If I only could get my shocks back from Moton, then I can put the chassis back on wheels and take it to the shop for fitting the cage.
OMG, IT'S A TARGA!!!!!!!!!????????

Some update, even though not much has happened due to lack of time (busy at work).
I got a call from Moton in Netherlands...my shocks are ready! WOOT!!
They will ship them on monday. They got the full monty; canisters blasted and painted, new valving for slick use, new springs, new spring plates, new hoses and quick disconnects.
Then I talked to the shop who will be making the cage for me, initially I was supposed to take the chassis there in June but now they have an opening next week (must be finished before the 19th of this month). So I will have to assemble the suspension this weekend and early next week (When I get the shocks) and take the car there.
Only downside is, the place is a good 5 hour drive from my home so it will be a long night. Can't really skip a day at work at the moment.... =(
Then I also got a package from Arizona today:

I was also doing some industrial spy work at the Porsche museum a couple of weeks ago. There was a Roock GT2 EVO and I will tell you I was all over it (they almost threw me out of the museum...)

Suspension is back on, just waiting to get the shocks on Tuesday.
I removed everything from inside the car, except for the wiring that I just loosened so it can be protected and moved around for cleaning/welding/painting.
The fuel cell was a perfect fit, as expected.
I also put on some zinc primer on the blasted hubs so they don't look rusty after the first rain.
