Anyone used these tweeters in stock pods?

These should work as they are spec'd at 1". What I can't quite figure out is how or why would Polk Audio have so many "Refurbished" units out there and how do you refurbish a tweeter??

I tried some Focal tweeters that were also 1", and barely any sound came out of them. They were 4 ohms like the stock ones. Apparently the capacitor is different, so they don't work.
This is an extremely frustrating process -- seems like there are a dozen different variables and no real way to tell what will work and what won't. Total crapshoot.

Are the OEM tweeters kaput ? Or is it a generic tweeter enhancement you're after?
Take notice of the sensitivity specification of a tweeter, this will provide a glimpse into its acoustic character relative to your efforts. Sensitivity is measured in decibels, db for short. The greater the db figure, the greater the tweeters sensitivity to input and subsequent,, er volume.
As an example: Tweeter X has a sensitivity (2.83v/1m) measures 94db
Good luck.
