Default 1997 C2 Power steering question

Hi
I have been told that 1997 and later 993's, have Pentosin power steering fluid instead of Dexron, and there is a sticker/label on the Power steering container in the engine bay for this variation.

Could someone please take a photo of the power steering container with the sticker/label on it and send it to me?

I need the information to order the sticker/label from Porsche.

Thank you..........................

I have a 1997 and there is no sticker. However this is from the repair manual:

Porsche started to fill with Pentosin CHF 11 S in March 1996.

Power steering fluid does not seem to have a big compatibility issue between brands. Your system should really never need to be filled. IS it leaking? What is the issue driving your question?

No sticker in my '97.

Original fill was Pentosin CHF 11S. You might be able to find it but are more likely to find Pentosin CHF 202 which is fully compatable with 11S. They are both synthetic.

I would not risk mixing other brands or even other Pentosin fluids like 7.1 (mineral) into the system. Pentosin specifically states that 11S/202 and 7.1 are not compatable and that they should also not be mixed with ATF fluids (which Dexron and most other power steering fluids are).

Hi pp000830,

I was talking to a friend that works at Porsche and he mentioned that the late model 993's had Pentosin fluid in the power steering and not Dexron and there was a sticker on the container for the power steering in the engine bay. So I started researching, my car has Dexron and there is no sticker, we are having trouble finding the part number of the sticker in the PET catalogue, so we are checking with Porsche Germany, but mean time I thought I would ask our forum, as it usually has all the answers.

There is no problem with my car, just want to have it perfect, I enter it in concourses,
Although I need to replace the fluid with Pentosin, as my car is build date March 1997.

Thanks,

Neil,

Are you back causing problems again?? Geez....

My car does not have a sticker on the power steering resevoir. I did the turkey baster flush thing last year with the Pentosin product. Hot drive, suck the fluid out, refill, and repeat. I figured it couldn't hurt on my '97.

Hope you are well, my friend.

Hi Mike,
All is well, I am going to replace the fluid in the power steering, to the correct fluid.
so just doing some home work first.

I entered my car in the Porsche Car Club of NSW concourse two weeks ago and you won't guess, I came second again, outright.
Second to a 1954 356 cab again.

I have more second place trophies in Australia then any one I know.

Not sure what I have to do to get a first, I can not do anything to improve the car.
The judges say drive it and get some more Kilometres on it, as you can not improve it.

Neil,

Isn't that your mate with the 356? So the idea of having
Luca Brazzi pay him a visit is no good? Just sayin....

Sorry, we USA mutts tend to be pragmatic.

Glad you are well and your world trips were fun.

Mike,
Yes, it is the mate.
He said he is not going to enter the 356 next year.

I think the bigger issue is he has more contacts then me, so having someone pay him a visit, could cause me more problems,

Do concourse judges take a turkey baster to the power steering reservoir? If they don’t like what they find do they demote your car in the judging?
