My new 993
Picked it up today.
95, black, grey interior, manual, 18 inch wheels, Bilstine suspension, chip wizard. Very pretty car!
It's not without issues there are some rust bubbles on the rear window but I'm happy to sort this as the price was right, the last owner took a $21k hit in 18mths (new job overseas). Also the oil temp seems to be all over the place and stick up in the red at times but returns to normal when I tap the glass. I did pay for a local specialist to PPI it.
So I'm looking forward to picking your brains in the future.

Congrats. Welcome. Isn't it a joy to drive? Unwritten rule I found here; post w/o pics are a bummer for readers. So post away!
I see myself as a "993 rescue". LOL I have two 1995 993s. I love high mile 993s. I paid $22,400 for my first (150k miles) and $29k for my 2nd (C2 w/70k miles)
I see them as liquid investments you can enjoy. Plus every stock I buy seems to tank. I slowly am bringing both back to life. The C4 was someone's track *****. Rode hard and put away wet. My C2 is clean, just had engine dropped for new clutch and had her sealed up.
Enjoy the forum. I find I must limit my time here. 3 hours can fly by fast as your car.

Congratulations!
Easiest check on the gauge is to clean contacts both behind the gauge and at the sensor.
In my case, tapping the glass would 'unstick' things, and sure enough, I needed to send the gauge itself out for a fix. Kind of makes sense - if it is susceptible to movement, probably something up in the unit itself.
Good luck!
Cheers
Matt

Thats crazy, did he give it to you for free or did he way over pay for it?
