Default Any recommended glass installers in the south SF Bay?

I did a search but nothing recent came up. Looking for a good installer in the San Jose area. I have a tentative appointment at Stevens Creek Porsche next week but they sub it out to some other installer and I don't know if that is the best plan.

Jeremy -
I just had my front windshield replaced on my ML55 AMG at Safelite on Stevens Creek. Was a bit paranoid as it not only is difficult from a placment and sealing perspective, the the electronics that are linked at the top are extensive. They did an incredible job and I'm looking at them to do the front of my 993. Plus they guarentee their work and it's a national company.

Don't forget to check that inner seal.

No, I hadn't thought of them. I will give them a call on Monday.

Thanks Mo. I have heard mixed reviews about Safelite. Some seemed to have received great work and others have been unhappy. I will add them to the list of installers to call Monday to see if they are familiar with the extra problems that come with the 993.

Yes! Driving down the road and hear an explosion. Sounded like someone shot a cannon off. Thankfully I didn't require a change of pants afterwards.

I'm sure it had nothing to do with the recently installed third brake light.

Base on previous threads, I would assume you would witness the glass removal to check on rust or any paint damage during the process that would require additional attention. Coastside weather can accelerate any unnoticed deterioration. IMHO
Good Luck!!

Wires were there, the install was pretty simple or so I thought.

Lots of glass to clean up. Amazing how it can get into even the smallest areas.

I even had to pull the parcel shelf because glass was falling down behind it.

Jeremy,
Sorry to see this occurance to such a good guy...Wish there was something I could do for you.

If you are going with a new seal, I found Sunset pricing very reasonable.

Wishing you the best,

P.S. Turbo bumper and wing came out great!!

You just had to pull back the seal, right? You think that somehow put enough stress on the glass to cause it to shatter?

I think if it is related to the brake light that it must have been the two part adhesive expanded that I used to attach it.

Got her back this afternoon. Ended up staying with Stevens Creek Porsche who had Safelite come out and do the glass install and then one of the Porsche tech's reinstalled the third brake light. I was very happy with them. They were very patient with me even though I was probably driving nuts with my questions and obsessive worrying after reading of others horror stories after glass work.
