Default Bilstein HD/M030 springs, RS height possible?

I currently have the M030 suspension set at ROW height, i am wanting to go a little lower, to RS height or just slightly above.

Is this possible to do by keeping my M030 springs and getting the Bilstein HD B6 (with the 30mm extra threads) from carnewal?

here is the ride height i am looking for, wondering if this setup will get me near this, if not ..any suggestions without going coilovers?

thank you for the help

I'm running HDs and M033 with 127 mm front and 114 mm rear ... the springs are not as stiff as the m030 but the same length. I would think you can get RS height. 124 f and 107 r +/- 10.

I have Bilstein HD and Eibach springs, front is about the same height as the car in the picture, my car's rear is a bit higher but I think it can be made as low.

You really would want to get the RS carriers if you go that low, it will bump steer like a goodun!

RS +10mm is the lowest you should go with stock uprights or it will bump steer like crazy..

Based on my previous 993 with HDs and M030 from Carnewal, there were plenty of threads left to go down to RS.

Paul, curious, did you ever try lower than RS before you got the RS uprights? If so, was the difference huge?

I have lower than RS with PSS9's on the stock uprights. With 17" tires, on a average/smooth road, it is fantastic. On corners, it really just sticks and there's hardly any roll at all. There is a little understeer on the skinny 205's up front, but asides from that it handles fantastic.

On 18" rims, different story, even on full soft. Way harsher and more bumpsteer unless you are on a perfect road.

Since RS uprights arn't in my immediate future, I'm probably going to raise mine up a little, at least to RS or RS+5 and see what that does to the ride with the 18's. I have 285/30/18's on the back right now. When they wear out I might go 265/35 to get a little more sidewall too. Kind of undecided to raise the car first or do the tires first. Could easily be swayed to replace the rears now if I thought that would help much. Comments welcomed.

How is your ride as far as comfort with those uprights. Is it smooth enough for roadtrips?

great thanks for the posts guys. looks like i will want to stick around RS+5 or +10mm because i do not want to change out to RS uprights .
after some more searching around i noticed this forum member used the Bilsteins with H&R's:
https://rennlist.com/forums/993-foru...-complete.html

..looks like just the height i'm after as its sitting at RS+10. should i get a set of H&R's for the bilsteins? or should i use my current m030 springs and get down to that height? i figure it is more cost effective to keep my current m030 spring so then i just need to buy the shocks instead of buying another set of springs as well.

also plan to DIY this, so where do i need to place the collars on the shock with the M030 spring to get the RS +10 height? how many mm up from the bottom of the shock to the botom of the collar?

thanks

Do you have ROW M030 or US M030? Make sure to get the HDs from Gert with 30mm extra thread.

thats the plan, HD's from carnewal for the extra 30mm

as for the spring type not sure, honestly didnt know where was a difference between euro and US m030. i thought there was only one m030 package.

i bought the car recently and on the previous owners description it says the car has "Euro-spec M030 suspension", so i assume i have Euro spec springs. the springs are black and the shocks are dark green, not sure if that is any indicator.

USA springs are all the same length, the M030 are just stiffer. Euro M030 are shorter than US M030.

RS +10 is the recommended height for Euro M030 with Bilstein B6. If you want lower the H&R are a better option since they ae shorter than M030 springs and you do not have to compress them as much as the M030 to get to RS height.

I have a 993 suspension overview on our blog, see the link below my sig.

RS +5 mm, B6 + H&R springs
