Refinishing CCW Classics... and then selling them
Morning guys!
So a little background, I bought these wheels a year or so ago and have been running them as is on my GTI (w/ adapters) with plans to use them on whatever 993 I eventually found. I ended up getting a good deal on an Audi RS4 so I won't be needing these anymore.
I'm in the process of taking them all apart and sprucing them up via repolishing the lips, bolts, cleaning the barrels, and either polishing the centers or having them powdercoated.
Currently the centers are white in color, any thoughts on a new color?
Specs:
CCW Classics Race
5x130
18x8 ET45
18x10 ET61
2" lips all around

Yesterday I drained the air out of the tire and started taking them apart. I used an 8mm 12point box end and a small impact wrench with a 13mm. It's smart to take a 2" x 2" square from a plastic bag over each bolt while removing them as to not scratch the finish:
I went to town on the lips with mothers mag polish and a clean microfiber and they now look like this:
Next up is to take the other 3 wheels apart...

What did you finish them with, powder coat? I've got a set of Fikse FM10's that I've stripped and would like to refinish in a similar color. I couldn't find anyone local that does low temp power coating so I'm now considering paint or a matte clear anodized finish.

I've had no issues with any 3 piece wheels fatiguing or cracking due to the heat.

They are easy enough to take apart, if you have some spare time it is fun to do.

I've put a few sets of wheels together and this method has served me well.
