Now that sounds promising. I will try that when I reinstall motor, hopefully tomorrow. Stay tuned...

Update:
Motor went back in, checked all vac lines and wiring connections carefully, started up, and normal idle!
But. Oil still coming out of topside
So out comes the borescope again. Man, that thing has paid for itself already after 2 uses.
Culprit was a damaged o-ring on the housing or flange that has the oil pressure and temp sensors. No idea how this damage occurred, brand new part was installed:

BTW, For the O-ring replacement decided to pull the varioram and leave motor in place. Cleanup was awkward but do-able with motor in.
So waited for the new o-ring, then put varioram back and reconnected everything again. Carefully.
SUCCESS! No more exxon Valdez. So having redeemed myself, my avatar is going back to its old self.
