Thanks in Advance-

Interstate is a great brand. Just have your radio security code handy if you still have a stock stereo. Other than that, it's an easy swap.

You may want to put one of those 9 volt, cigarette lighter things on to retain your obd settings if you have trouble setting your OBD monitors.

plug it in before removing the battery cables.

So zero issue on the OBDI I take it? Only issues is with OBDII? If a battery is changed no codes to reset except for the radio? Just to clarify.

Plug in a trickle charger or the 9v device QC recommends and then you don't have to worry about it.

I installed a Optima battery.....problem is the positive cable is to short and is molded to fit original....I cut the end off and replaced the positive lead in the trunk.
Ten years now, works great. mark

Just change the battery. No trickle chargers or other black magic. OBD1 or 2, doesn't matter. These things are meant to be changed often in all cars. I've done battery swaps in countless numbers of cars with zero issues. Interstate and Odyssey are the only brands I would personally buy. I've heard very mixed reviews on optima's reliability. Just my two cents.

I'm with Dr. No, I had Porsche batteries go bad every two years. Porsche dealer had no answers, bad cell. Thats when I changed to Optima and installed a trickle charger (this is a must if your Porsche sits more then two weeks). Again, all the problems went away. Trickle charger keeps it up, if I forget and battery is really dead, just charge, no bad cells. I am the original owner of a 98 Carrera S.
Thanks, mark

some cars are difficult to set the obdii monitors on, hence the benefit of hooking up the 9v temporarily.

I've removed the batteries (even left one out overnight) several times on both my 993's and didn't have to reset the OBDII flags on either car. Only code needing to be reset was for the radio. I wouldn't hesitate to do it again.

Both cars are '97's, don't know if that makes a difference.

I disconnected my battery for over 1 hour to change out the steering wheel to a 3 spoke. When I reconnected the battery my OBD II codes were still set. I didn't need to mess with the drive cycle.
