Default Oil temp switch bad?

First time I drove with the top up this year and I could hear a constant faint humming coming from the passenger side. Seems that my oil cooler fan is always on regardless of temp. Supporting that was the temp falling to the 7 o'clock position once the thermostat opened.

Does this mean my oil cooler temperature switch failed? Pelican wants $97 for that switch (964-624-110-00-M100) so I'd rather not order if this could be caused by something else.

Have you guys seen this behavior before? Thanks

Maybe the relay is defective. Part # is 811 951 253. Instead of buying it you can try to switch with the AC relay (or Blower relay in the rear fuse panel box) which is the same and see if you still have the same issue.
