Sorry Duggie, I had another question that I think you missed. You stated your oil cooler fan resistor was replaced, have you confirmed that the low speed fan does in fact now work? I'm wondering if the relay has failed.

I'd grab a hot cuppa and head out to the driveway and let her idle until you hear both fan speeds click on and note engine temp at both.
Edit: it occurred to me that this isn't a good test since at idle, the fan will likely cycle between on and off, not high and low.

Hi Tim, when i replaced the ballast which was about 6 mths ago it was obviously checked after fitting and all worked as it should, i haven't checked it in the last few days thinking it should last longer than 6 mths !!, having searched on the forum lve seen the posts where some guys are making these parallel resistor kits in place of the original ballast, perhaps thats the way to go, It's 9pm here so tomorrow l'll check the low speed fan, just to make sure.

during your next oil change after all the oil is in a bucket or on the floor, at the bottom of the housing next to the drain plug,
remove a circlip and the thermostat plug, springs and thermostat can be pulled out. test the thermostat by putting in boiling water.
probably want to change that o-ring on the bottom of the plug.
thermostat is the suspect 3rd from the left.

Drifting
when the temp is at its highest (between 9 and 10) the oil pressure reads about 1.5 which is low, but the idle revs by this time are also lower than normal, once driving the temp goes back down gradually to normal,, the oil pressure is fine once driving, under acceleration will hit 5 and drops to around 3 to 4 under normal driving. The mileage is 97k

You may need a new pressure sensor, if you do, make sure you buy a Porsche replacement and not a after market one, I made that mistake and ended up changing it twice in a matter of mths....fiddly job, but easier the second time !!!
