I should have mentioned sorry both driver and co-pilot escaped with no serious injuries at least according to the article.

Would help to 'know' the track some.... No steering input, just brake lockup before impact?
Glad no injuries, but the poor car!!!

You can see some steering input in the slow-motion replay, but it's late and all of the traction budget was still being applied to the braking. There's lots of speculation on the Youtube page regarding a stuck throttle, and the driver allegedly is an experienced rally racer.

There was an interview with the driver on the local TV, the throttle was stuck and not enough time to cutoff the engine so they hit the water barrier full throttle. This guy is a very experience rally driver.

He said damage is not that bad and they will be back next year. His reaction to the crash, translated. "Well I have a black eye and my co driver caught a cold because of the water".... Tough Flying Dutchman!

Video with interview, in dutch but some footage of the car in the workshop.

Video Interview

If you doubt how tough the Dutch really are, just watch the crowd reaction.

What I love is that at 13 seconds into the video, the water hasn't fully settled over the car and one of the bystanders is checking his phone!

Surprised no one jumped in to help. Belted in and (possibly) knocked unconscious upside down in the water, those guys could have drowned.

He was just checking to see if someone already posted it on Rennlist!

Glad no one was hurt! What a painful looking wreck though.

From Urban Dictionary:

Enzo

It is derived from numerous threads started about various Ferrari Enzo crashes that occurred. For some reason us RL OT'ers were particularly drawn to news articles about celebrities crashing Enzos so we posted a lot of them - and many were re-posts.

In general, "Enzo" is meant to be a humorous way of saying "repost, you f'ing idiot" when someone starts a thread when there already is one on the subject.
