How to find AC leaks?

BobbyT, I did some checking. If you have a bad one, the Schrader valve core for that port is Porsche #928 126 902 01 and lists for around $20. The compressor for our cars is DENSO #471-1130. The valve core listed for that compressor is #59347 and, unlike the Porsche-only service ports, is readily available on-line or at most parts counters for less than $5.00.

The Doctor is IN. With a new toy:
"Whistler Wireless Inspection Camera with Recording Color LCD monitor"
This gadget takes stills or video, via a three-foot snaky 9mm camera head with its own LCD lights. The secrets of that reclusive b*tch known as Evaporatira will soon be exposed.
This is from the manual: "Gently guide the tube into the desired location. Slight adjustments can be made while maneuvering the head in a forward direction." This is getting me all hot. I hope my wife doesn't come home and catch me reading this stuff.

UPDATE
Item 1. Leak found. I didn't carefully read the instructions for the sniffer, the part about waiting 10-15 minutes after turning off the AC before sniffing the airbox (apparently this allows the leakage that was being blown away by the fans to accumulate). When I waited a while before inserting the sniffer into the evaporator airbox, it lit up like a Christmas tree.
Item 2. The videoscope isn't very useful for looking at the evaporator. It doesn't focus well when the camera head is close to the subject, and you can't bend the snake into a tight right angle to get the view needed.

So I am guessing that means new evaporator and drier?
I recharged my system yesterday, it was completely devoid of any refrigerant, and while it now blows cold now, the next step is to figure out where the refrigerant went. Condensed water under car feels a bit oily, so I think my evaporator may be the culprit.
BobbyT: are you going to go with the Grifiths unit?

P-daddy,
Removing the pollen filters gives good access to the evaporator airbox.
Kika,
My wrench has done many 993 evaporator replacements, so I'll get his input before making the decision whether to use Griffith's.
