Update for everyone...PCA has details on their website now.

http://parade2014.pca.org/index.html

Registration begins March 11. If you are not a PCA member and/or are not going to register formally highly suggest you line up hotels now. Most hotels have very reasonable cancelation policies that I have stayed at in the past so can always cancel later if needed. Also if you have a favorite restaurant you need to start working on this as well...all the popular ones will get slammed. Same goes for aquarium etc.

I'm going. I spend some time in No CA and So CA but have never been to Monterey. I went to the Parade in Keystone, CO and helped with the one here in SLC. I had great time in CO. It was not as much fun leading tours of 100+ cars through the city and canyons of Utah every day of the SLC parade.

There are some beautiful cars that come out. I'm trying to get an acquaintance to take his 993 GT2.

Conundrum of the local Parades--hard to justify spending $2K+ for a week there when you can go on a real vacation.........

I'll likely go down Monday, see the cars, and since it's not a banquet night have dinner with out-of-town friends before driving home pretty exhausted.

I will be going down this year, would love to meet up with some fellow 993 owners even though I am not bringing my 993 down.

I have decided to torture myself and show my 88 Carrera in the Concours. I don't know why I do it, its frankly pretty stupid but I like the challenge of figuring out if I can make it "perfect". I think it centers around my frustration with looking at so many not perfect examples, that I want to make one truly perfect and then once I win with a car then I can scratch that off the list and move on to just driving them like they were designed to do! Mostly I just like looking at the cars and talking to other cool P-car people.

I have been prepping the undercarriage to get the car ready. Here are a few sneak preview shots:

+1 Ken.

That will be my strategy when it comes to French Lick, IN for 2015. Really have little interest in all the other stuff and will enjoy seeing all the cars.

uh, looking at the photos of your car makes me NOT want to enter my car

Actually, PCA started a new street class concours. Only interior and exterior-no storage, undercarriage or engine areas judged. Attracted a whole new generation last year.

For the hotels that PCA has booked, you'll get a code for reservations once you've registered. This one will probably be the largest in PCA Parade history. I've been going every year since 1996. Still can't sleep the night before I leave....

Yeah, I'm not a "local vacationer." We leave the house, we LEAVE.

But I get the appeal if you live in an area where you're not always 1-1.5 hours from a car event--track, concours, whatever. So if Monterey is otherwise a destination from home, by all means make the effort.

Wrapping this into the concours thing, I did co-enter with a friend way back when with 944. Still have my trophies for winning the tech quiz (lowest winning score of the men's classes!), and I think 4th in the autocross (1st on non-R compounds)............and DFL in the concours class. By a large margin. On a car 2-3K miles from new.

+993!! I read a post from a guy who was dinged for having grease on his seat rails...."Sir, that grease is black, and should be clear!!" Insanity....

I don't need that kind of flogging to enjoy the car.

I registered this morning and there are no rooms available in the Parade hotel blocks for the whole week. Nothing available at the Hyatt. I have two rooms reserved at the Portola with some nights at the regular rate. I guess they misjudged the numbers of attendees?

Are all the hotel rooms sold out? I heard that the Hyatt and Portola are sold out, but they have 5 hotels reserved. They knew this one was going to be big, probably the largest in Parade history. No one resort in the area could handle this type of response.

I'm Registered!

Went on-line about 6:15AM PST, and was able to get room at Hyatt for Sun-Wed. Psyched to head down from Tahoe with my 13-year old son! Signed up for the Canepa Design Drive and Tour on Tuesday.

Once everyone gets registered, we should plan for a meet-up 993 RLer's! I really enjoyed meeting many of you at the Rennlist Reunion IV!
