Default Anyone remove their rear seatbelts completely?

When I was swapping the front seatbelts to red ones, I had the rear decklid off. I saw how easy it'd be to remove the rear belts, and after feeling the heft of the inertial reel from the front, I thought about possibly removing the rears to save weight since its so easy.

Is it even legal to lose seatbelts (CA), will I run into that one time I need to put someone in the back, etc?

I bet money you cannot feel the difference in performance with them in or out, so why not just leave them there.

I'm sure I wont feel a difference even if I could remove 10 seatbelts from the back. I guess my thought process was:

1) Its still weight removal from the back
2) As I continue modding, the little bits of weight removed will add up over time

Its probably more headache than its worth so most likely I'll just leave them in for emergencies aka trying to cram an adult in the back.

I removed mine along with the rear seat and deck. The seatbelts, receptacle, and bolts weighed about 5lbs.

Oh...after you remove the seatbelt receptacle, put the bolt back in so it covers the hole. Otherwise, the car will be noisy since the bolt hole goes straight through the body where the transmission is.

Weigh saving on taking the rear seat, belts, and deck is a good 25lbs.

Cactus removed his and forgot to replace the bolts. Thought he had a snake somewhere in the car...

I'm leaving mine in, to preserve marketability.

I can feel my car get progressively faster and more responsive with the liquid reduction in my fuel tank with each passing mile. If the OP does not use the rear seats, why not remove the dead weight? I for one shave all body hair and cry for hours to aid in the overall weight reduction before a spirited drive.

I have 12 tips that will absolutely increase the performance of any 993 (NA or Turbo) but I reserve these secretes for a select few.

Since I will be keeping everything I remove, I might just try taking parts off that are relatively easy as I go. If/When I decide to ever sell the car I dont think itll take much time to replace the items. I dont see removing certain items as damaging to the resale value as long as they are put back in and the future owner requires such things. Thanks for the advice, guys.

You do lose a few#s and it cleans the area up nicely, you will be left w/ a bracket on the hump that is pretty unsightly unless you cut it off and recarpet or leave the jump seats

Any weight reduction in search of performance is a step in the right direction.

Whether you can "feel" it or not is moot, (its a cumlative thing). and you KNOW its all a step in the right direction.

As far a s legality goes, I do not believe it is illegal as long as you do not have passengers in your back seating area. Seat belts are MANDATORY for EVERY occupant in your car.
