Default 993s are made for driving ***300,000***

I picked my car up in May of 1996. It had 42 miles on it. I traded my '96 993 C2 Red/Tan coupe and my '89 silver anniversary cabriolet for it. It gave me the performance of the '95 and the open top of the '89. It was an all season car for me until 2008, and I ran Blizzaks in the fall/winter from '04 to '08 (when I moved back to the northeast). It has been serviced by Porsche since new, and only by 2 mechanics: Wayne (now at Euroclassics in VA) and Brian (now Bucks County Porsche). I am on my second clutch (first one replaced ~89,000), and my third top. No major engine work yet. I sent Porsche a letter in which I told them that any 300,000 mile service should be done for free and they sent me a $800 voucher. LOL The dealer gave me 20% off the service. I can't complain. I doubt that I'll hit 400,000. I've gotten the itch for a '14 Boxster S and plan to order one in January so that I have it for the spring. "What a long strange trip its' been

Fantastic.

The Boxster S is compelling, but keep the 993.

I plan to. It won't go on many more road trips after this summer/fall.

Awesome. That means mine is just barely broken in at 107,000.

Wouldn't this be a perfect time for a restoration?

Congrats Richard! The car looks great and this is such a nice color! You had it repainted not too long ago, correct?

Congratulations......Rich.

What a great story.

What have you done to this car, for the engine to last so long, without a rebuild?

You hear of so my 993's having engine rebuilds at 100K miles plus.

What oil do you use?
At what intervals do you have your car serviced?
What other special way do you treat your car to get this longevity?

Even your second clutch as lasted 211,000 miles, compared to the first at 89,000miles.

Interested in your feedback......

Thanks,

Richard,
Awesome. My wife & I are on a week-long road trip with the 993 and I told her earlier today that I no longer worry about adding miles...

I purchased my '01 4Runner new with 2 miles on the clock and am getting dangerously close to 300,000 miles.
