Default Two unusual failures

Picture is of left side bolster of driver's side seat. The black plastic support at the bottom of the back of seat cracked where the top screw goes into the seat. To protect the plastic from splitting - I applied colored tape to hold it in position. Anyone have this happen? I assume the replacement part is available.

Second, there is a little spring inside the sun visor. It holds the visor in position - when visor is returned to its full "up" position. The spring snapped - so the visor droops. I've temporarily used a large clip to fasten the driver's visor to the passenger visor. I've searched high and low for a replacement visor and only have found a black one (mine are dark blue) for about $200. Does anyone know if the visor can be taken apart and the spring replaced?

Pretty sure the seat hinge covers are a very common failure. My car came with 2 of them broken and sitting in the back seat. I bought replacement used from partsheaven, they arrived in good shape.

The plastic seat hinge cover part is 928 521 148 02 (fits 993).

I have them in tan if interested, but I just saw that partsheaven has them for only 13$ each...

An other solution (or additional) would be a seat cover. I can sell mine both new for 130$.

I had one crack as well, ordered a new one and installed it. Plastic gets brittle over time, especially if the car is in a hot dry climate.

No idea on the spring inside the visor. I never knew there was one inside there. I always assumed it was more of a cam mechanism.

I would expect that you could:
1. source a new visor, which probably is not cheap,
2. find a used one

have you taken your visor apart? you can probably get a spring from a hardware store that would work.

Tell me PorscheMikeandNancy, where did you get the tan gauge bezels? Was that an option? Where can I buy them?

The seat hinge covers crack because the self tapping screws warp the cover when they are screwed into the seat back. I'd replaced mine years ago when I bought the car and they cracked again. The last time I used a small 1" x 1" piece of 3M
foam sound proofing as a spacer to provide some backing to the plastic part. Otherwise it will just crack again.

That seat cover looks good. Where did you source it from?

They're from "Cover Master".

It's not exactly the same tan as OEM but it fits perfect and protects the seat.

Default jg291446 - re tan instrument bezels

Apparently they were a factory option - and I was told they are leather covers.
