A/C compressor valve caps?

A/C compressor valve caps?
Noticed that on my 1995 993 the Low pressure valve cap on the ac compressor is missing (think this is supposed to be red?)
Since my ac isn't working, I thought I would check with you guys if these caps have a sealing function of the ac oil/gas or if they are merely dust caps.
Will probably replace it regardless, just for the look of things.
Thanks for you help.

I believe the high/low caps do have o-rings, but their primary function is to keep the inlets clean. They are certainly not meant to retain pressure.

Ok, thanks for your reply.
Thought it would've been too easy if just this little cap was the culprit.
Probably a good idea with a replacement though.
