Just another blk new to me 993!!!
Not sure of how much story to involve with this year long search for "the one". First, I'd like to thank everyone for the help with this, it's been a long time commin'. To all that Rennfaxed for me, thank you, DJ at Don Jackson, Laura at Hergeshiemers, and all your brilliant folks that make this site so enjoyable and informative, cheers.
Spotted this car on Autotrader a few months ago. Spoke with the owner on two occasions, but it was in Phoenix and I'm on OC so was focused locally at first. I drove approx. 10 993's since summer of 2012 from Valencia to San Diego. Saw alot of poor thrashed cars the owners claimed were in excellent condition. Saw the "one" that got away, ('97 blk/blk C4S 71K miles, excellent cond, talked the owner down to 41.5K, pulled the trigger one day to late and that one is now being shipped back to Germany, sigh). Read about every page on Rennlist, at least it feels that way, anyway, I did my homework.
Called the Phoenix owner (a '96 blk/cash C2 83K mi. full records) a third time and sent word out for a rennfax. Recieved photos, write up, and phoned about the car THE next day. Called the owner that day and a gentleman and his son driving to NC from CA swooped in on a whim and had the car sent to Don Jackson Ent. for a PPI. OK, fine, told him if the deal falls through call me. He was sorry and said I really was his first choice, but those are the big red breaks so to speak. Two days later he calls me saying the other buyer dropped out due to shipping cost to the east coast, price of the car, blah, blah, blah.
PPI was good, 2-4% leakdown across the board. Called him back, worked out a price, sent the car to Porsche dealership for a few fixes that included new leather skins for the front seats, valve seals, etc. all on the sellers tab!! He is the service manager at a local dealership in the Phoenix area and said he could get the work done by his colleague at the Pstealer for a price I could never get, Done. Work was completed, car was on a truck, and in my garage. Bought sight unseen, and was a pleasure. Upon arrival the car was more than I expected. Really better than I expected due to the amount of crap I had looked at in the past. Enough of this, check it out.

Congrats on the purchase, it looks real good, but im partial to the black. I really like the S-style spoiler grill. I've been looking around for that same piece to replace the stock one as it looks so much better. Have fun with the car!

A very nice 993 find. Congrats.
Would you post your details in the sticky thread on the top of this forum? Helpful to all who are either looking or trying to determine the value of their car.
Thanks.

congratulations on your journey. car looks great and the seats came out fantastic!
can you tell us about the re-cover? bought the kit and dealer installed it?
ive recovered seats before and i know its pretty involved, tedious and expensive.

Yes, I'll post details in the sticky today. I was too frustrated from uploading photos, finding them, sizing them appropriately etc last night to do anymore. The PO and I had agreed that he would replace the upper and lower bolster on the drivers side. I guess most of the major car dealers (Chevy, P-car, Benz) all use this same upholstery guy. He came and said he could piece it back together, but we would not be happy with the results. We finally decided to just replace both sides with new ones from World. They were shipped, which took longer than expected, and yes, apparently this is not an easy job. I have the receipt from the upholster and there was plenty of extra cutting, stitching, and fitting that had to be done. Not just a simple slip them on and there you go as World says they are. They look amazing, and man, the car smells like brand new! Rear speaker deck also got the treatment due to some cracking but all other interior components look perfect.
