I feel like I have to say SOMETHING for that BMW but I wont... Macademia again?
I used to scrape my cars with sponges and wrong kind of drying cloths etc.
I didn't even realize how much damage I was making to the clear coat every time I washed and dried the car...
I was taught to use correct methods and equipment, and car washing couldn't be easier!
1. First apply pre-wash foam on the car. I have PT FOAM LANCE that connects to my pressure washer. The foam I use is BILT HAMPER AUTOFOAM.
2. Rinse of with pressure washer. The foam removes 95% of the dirt.
3. If still very dirty, apply foam again and rinse. If not, proceed to washing with a proper mit
4. For washing I use BILT HAMPER AUTOWASH, a Chemical Guys Extra Thick Premium Wash Mitt and two buckets. One with the soap and one with just water in it. Take clean washing water from one bucket and rinse it in the other bucket. This way you minimize bringing dirt with the mit.
The mit is also very important, this kind of mit sucks the dirt and sand into it and the outer layer is allways nice and smooth, therefore no danger of scraping the paint with sand.
5. Then rinse again with pressure washer.
6. Drying up with a chemical guys woolly mammoth towel. If you have very hard water, then make sure to dry it up quickly and don't do it in direct sun shine. Again the key is in having the right kind of drying towel. The ones I use are always soft to the surface, even if there was some dirt left.
I think the biggest difference I have noticed is the chemicals and the washing mit and drying towel. Those and the fact that the pre-wash foam is just unbelievable!! The car is super clean with just using the foam only.
The chemicals are also wax safe, so you are not washing away your wax as you go.
There are many other good similar products out there, but make sure that you know what you are buying!
A traditional sponge, cheap auto shampoo and a chamois, real or artificial, are a BIG NO-NO!!
Sorry for non-993 content, but don't have any photos of washing my 993...
