DEPOSIT TAKEN -- SALE PENDING 96 c4s for sale -- perfect slippery slope car!
1996 C4S 97,xxx, GP white exterior/black interior
VIN WPOAA2992TS321576
$42,500
Please email me at joshuaweinstein@ymail.com with any questions.
Both the car and I reside in San Francisco.
Purchased 11/2011 (at 86,750 miles), I am fourth owner, complete service record since new, clean CARFAX, exceptional PPI when I purchased, tasefully modded – a perfect slippery slope car with a recent PPI & binder full of receipts from all 4 owners!
Amazing fact: Car burns absolutely NO oil while mainly city driven (worst driving condition for oil consumption).
Full disclosure: Car has clear bra but typical rock chips and small nicks from parking in City, scrap on rear passenger fender/bumper, and a small amount of curb rash on wheels. Also drivers seat shows wear, highlighted in pictures on photobucket (see link below).
Highlights:
• 996 sports seats and leather steering wheel
• koni adjustable shocks/m030 ROW springs
• LWF and clutch
• Fister IIIs and virtually new stock catalytic converter
• Carrera IIIs (F18x8/R18x11) with new Sumi’s)
• Regular (7.5k) oil changes
• Valve guides warrantee replacement
• Red seat belts (front and rear)
• Tachart pedals
• Factory HiFi stereo option w/ CR-220, iPod connector, & new amp
• Parrot bluetooth
• C2S split grill
• Euro tail lights
• Inside of hood signed by Brian Redman (with photographic evidence)!
• Incredible leakdown numbers!
My PPI (11/2011):
I had PPI by well-known San Francisco Porsche shop. Leakdown measured as follows: Cly 1: 2% (200PSI); cly 2: 2% (200PSI); cly 3: 1% (200PSI); cly 4: 1% (200PSI); cly 5: 2% (200PSI); cly 6: 1% (200PSI). Other notable findings: a few oil seeps were noted (and none were bad enough to warrant any work IMO), a small dent in hood (so small I literally can’t see it); “thick paint” on passenger door and rear fender (no other evidence of body work); and some clutch chatter that is typical of LWF. Will provide my PPI to any serious buyer and encourage and will facilitate reasonable PPI for prospective buyers.
Maintenance records highlights:
1999 clean CARFAX (one owner at that time)
Regular oil changes and brake services
Valve guide “good will” replacement by dealer at 37,115 (7/99)
LWF and clutch at 77,550
HID headlights at 77,550
New 4WD diff (“viscous drive assembly”) at 79,216
Ignition switch at 92,005
New front axel at 97,338
New tires May, 2013 (~97,200)
Options per hood sticker:
425 Rear wiper
437 Comfort seat left
454 Automatic speed control
490 Hi-Fi sound system
650 Sunroof
688 Radio cd CDR210
C02 Equipped with catalytic converter

To answer the question in the PMs and emails: I am selling because I drive the kids to school in the morning and my son has outgrown the back seat. I contemplated -- and tried to find -- a "beater" to get me through the school years and keep her, but parking is limited and I couldn't find anything in my price range that I could stomach driving on a daily basis. So, off she goes to be replaced by a B7 Audi RS4. Will I be back? Will I regret selling? Maybe, but I do lust after a Cayman R and in 3-4 years they should be depreciated enough that I'll step into one just about the time my daughter is off to college....
Yes. That's where I shoot all my for sale pics (see below)
How do you know, stalker?!?
Good to hear, since I'm off to Vegas Wednesday and I can lose all the money at the craps table (in between my son's AAU games, that is!).
Not at the fountain, but still in "the wood"
My name-sake being loaded on the truck near "the wood" on Portola:

Thanks. My history with e9s is sad. I've had two and loved both but they both broke my heart. Yes, greenie (as the kids named her) was beautiful but like all outrageously beautiful women, impossible to put up with. The bad prior restoration, the stalling that I couldn't fix, my desire to make her perfect (which I couldn't afford) yet drive her too (which I seldom did). It never added up. If I owned a museum, she would be the first in it. Hell, if I sitill lived in the house in Forest Hill with a two car garage I'd still own her. But it was not meant to be.
Absolutely gorgeous. But not fun to own. (Now sitting in the garage of another fellow rennliister who gave her a full restoration and can afford to keep her [but he painted her gray!]. Alas!)
