Default No start 993

1997 993, 80,000 miles -- Car was parked in heavy rain this week and not driven much. When started it felt like it was missing but after a minute or two ran well. Drove 3 miles and parked. 30 minutes later it does not start. The starter works fine, battery good. Strong smell of gas, so fuels ok. Changed out DME relay. Still no start. Had car towed home. Recharged the battery. Half hour later it starts.

My guess is ignition? Im running original plug wires, and distributor caps.

Anyone else have this happen?

peter

Never have had this happen to me but I have heard of water getting into and under the distributor caps after very heavy rain. It is the open grille in the rear that is the culprit.

W/ 80K on the clock it is overdue for some ignition r&r.

Sounds like distributor and/or spark plug wire moisture migration. Pop the Dist caps, that's a simple enough task, and take a peek there to start.

PS-are your floors dry? Meaning no water is entering the cabin?

"PS-are your floors dry?"

If not, could be a MAJOR problem!
