Default Headed to Lime Rock for the ALMS race next weekend

I've not been to LRP yet, in my world tour of historic tracks, and that'll change this week. Turning it into a week vacation in NYC for July 4, and taking my wife. The only "problem" is, for me to have fun, she needs to be comfortable, so I sprung for the VIP tix. That, coupled with the week in Manhattan, plane, upgrades, etc, makes for an expensive race. But, I'm looking forward to it! Anyone else going?

I also don't think I've ever set foot in Connecticut.

I'll visit Road America in August for the ALMS/Grand Am double-header, that will get that track off the list.

Actually, we pick up a rental car early Sat morning in Manhattan, and drive up. We will drive down that night to New Haven, and fly out of JFK Sunday afternoon. Hotels are tough to come by near the track, at least when I launched this plan.

I'll be there as will a few other Rennlisters. LRP is a great track, you can walk it while the race is going on and see the race from every angle. Let me know if you need recommendations while in Manhattan.

Thanks Ilko, we're pretty well set for the week's reservations, I'll probably gain 10lbs. The ALMS has a street deal Tues evening in Greenwich Village, we'll probably check that out too.

On the cobble stone streets in SoHo? My car is too low for that. But I'll bring it to Porscheplatz on Saturday at Lime Rock.

LRP is a great place to watch a race. You can easily walk around the entire infield and get very close to the action. I've been to the ALMS race there a few times. You'll definitely have a good time.

You must go to Sally's Apizza in New Haven afterwards...

I was jesting, I can't imagine driving a nice car in NYC, except when headed out, or to your garage. I was there a couple of weeks ago, and the Suburban "town car" I was riding in was firmly in his lane, when a plumbing truck swerved enough to rip both driver mirrors off. My driver hooked a uey, and chased said plumber down, and they went at it in the street. Quite eye-opening, to say the least. A number of other gymnastics on the way to the hotel made me thankful I didn't have to drive.

I'll be there all three days. Let's not forget that the Pirelli World Challenge and the Lamborghini Trofeo Series are going to be there as well. Meet for a cold one at the Harpoon Tavern? (a tent at the track).

Indeed, there are other races. We leave NYC about 7am, so my goal is to be there and situated in time for the Pirelli GT race. We can shoot for a meet at the Tavern.
