Default This came out of the transmission - what is it?

I was changing the transmission fluid this past weekend, and this little piece of metal (it looks like some kind of pin I think) was attached to the magnetic tip of the drain plug.

It looks like a couple small sheets of rolled up medal. Does anyone know exactly what it is? Something to be worried about? The transmission operates well; I have never experienced any issues when shifting.

Any input is appreciated.

It's a "roll pin".
typically used to hold a sleeve or bushing or ? in place.
I've never re-built a 993 tranny, so can't say what it may be used for inside.
pm chaoscreature?
He recently tore his apart.

What size is it? Looks like there are several in there. Knowing the length might narrow it down.

I'd think about parking it, until you figure it out.

Looks like it could be the one on the inner shift rod (1) to shift lever (2), they say part 3 is a 5x26 roll pin.

On the bright side he found the pin before it could get sucked up into a gear and do some real damage.

+1

That #43 pin holding the reverse idler gear looks similar too...

I think you posted your question in the right place though...

That's the plus. The minus: What else is loose in there? I'm with Ed on "park it until you know where it came from". The cost goes from a 50c roll pin to a 5k tranny rebuild really quickly with a few loose metal bits rolling around...

Glad you found this before it mingled with the transmission internals. Not sure of your mechanical knowledge, but pulling a 993 transmission is not terribly difficult. BTDT.

While it certainly looks to be a roll pin, and you should definitely check it out before driving any more, but wouldn't it be near impossible fora roll pin to work itself loose?

Curious as to how that could even happen.
