Introduction & My new 993
#18
Congrats, nice looking car. I like the twists on our 993s but the black doesn't do it for me. Somewhere down the line I'd like to find a set and refinish in a gun metal grey.
I like your ride height - better too low than too high.

^^^^ What Bully67 said -- I do actually like the wheels and that's a killer looking car overall. The PO of my car put on 18 5-spoke 996 wheels and had them powdercoated in gun-metal metallic gray and I love them, which is funny b/c I never thought I would. Whatever you do, great car and just enjoy!

And Fister II vs. III -- seems the IIIs are definitely pretty loud from everything I've read. I like my IIs a lot but can't imagine having louder given other factors, i.e. girlfriend, neighbors.
This is a fun vid though not any comparison to IIIs

Thanks all for the welcome. Appreciate the feedback...
Doberdog and CarreraX -- Good call on getting the suspension checked out; Will likely trek to West End so they can have a look. Fingers crossed we can save the suspension (and the wallet). Ride height change is no issue; not as sure about softening. I'm told it's a pretty firm set-up. I ran it over to Hergesheimer, Lake Forest who wanted to go with a new suspension...Recommended Bilstein HD's with MO 30's -- They didn't focus on options of saving the JIC's.
Ha! You couldn't be more correct about me. I listed Fister III's more as a wish....In my heart, I know even the II's will be a stretch. Stock guy but those FD Motorsports and Boman 993 sound videos are pretty compelling.
This is a good call. Only issue is the PO refinished them himself (decent job) but certainly not at the highest grade.
P-Daddy I love the look of your wheels; If I swap the twists; will likely go Speedline.
Again, love the trade idea but I think they should be refinished professionally.
You're spot on. Gun metal is a likely route for refinish; just want to make sure it's on the lighter side...closer to stock but still a unique finish.
BLT, great advice....Drive and enjoy. Do have any pics showing the gun metal finish? if not no biggie, just curious.
With the others on the wheels. Sell or trade those and replace with what you want. Those have value to a certain market segment.
Fister II or IIIs? From the sounds of things (pun intended), you're more of a Fister II guy. I'm in between, have IIIs and it appeals to the hot-rod side of me -- the same side of me that likes your black wheels. If you want a car that does not scream hot-rod, go with IIs.

Congrats on the new ride Marco, it's awesome in GR. One thing you may want to consider is replacing the stock cat with a 200 Cell Sport Cat. FDM sells one as does Fabspeed. I've heard the Fabspeed live and it's very sweet (Im sure Harold with chime in if he sees this with his impressions of his car with it). The Sport Cat will get you sound improvement (likely not as nice an improvement as II's or III's though) and you'll shave some weight off the rear end, cool the temps back there, and pick up a couple of HP.

Hi Marco,
That car looks familiar
I still have the other set of Carrera III wheels for it if you are interested.
The ones on the car are OEM Hollow spoke wheels, somewhat rare to find.
You may want to consider finding an other set of OEM mufflers and doing the Pete Leland mod to them, easy and cheap to do. I had them on two of my other cars and they sound great, specially if you go with a catless system.
I am glad you are enjoying the car,
Cheers,
Al Z

Marco,
If you ever consider installing a duck tail. I have the one for the car, before you bought it. Here are a few pics.
I think it looks very good on the 993.
Also, here is a pic of the car with the Carrera III wheels.
The pic with the Carrera wheels was taken before I installed the JIC coil overs.
Enjoy

Thanks for sharing I love those wheels! To me the car looks perfect as-is. You might want to "live with it" for a few (like, six,) months before making any changes. JMHO.
If you do change suspensions, be sure to drive a car with the setup you're moving to before making the switch.
My car is RoW Sport -10 and I rarely if ever scrape the front end. Maybe once a year in 4+ years... Just have to pay close attention...
Again, you may like it fine once you're used to it...
