I am glad we have the old style dash, the dash they put in the 996 looks just like the dashboard I had in my Jeep wrangler . . .

While the Varioram script may not have been available until after mid 96 production, there does not appear to be a strict correlation between build date and whether or not the script appears.

There is a belief that some of the non scripted intakes were still available even after the scripted ones were delivered to the factory as there are some people with later build dates that do NOT have the script and vice versa.

The 996 dash looks cheap and plasticky. I've never cared for the overlapping gauges.

The 993 dash is classic.

15. When driven solo you can fit at least 13 cases of wine in a 993. Ask me how I know.

16. It's front fogs and signals (and mirrors too) were used on an Audi!

Take care,

I have heard about this. Is it true that these varioram models with non-scripted intakes are a bit of a rarity that makes them more valuable?

As a 996 owner I must agree 100% and mis that feature from my old 993 (along with the headlights).

However, I can easily carry twice that wine stash, a full sized cello in its case, and a full sized acoustic guitar where the rear seats are supposed to be in the GT3 and not obscure the rear window view and get there even faster.

I don't know about more valuable, but the non Sripted models are faster as they are carrying less weight.

Here's one I discovered a couple of months ago: there's a RADIO. And: the radio will display THE NAME OF THE SONG THAT'S PLAYING !
