Default What is this part and is it easy to replace?

This rubber shroud has a big hole in it. I have black duct tape over it now. It was fine the other day, and when I looked at the engine today, it was cracked all over and a big chuck missing. Not sure what function it serves in routing air from the fan.

Is this rubber piece serviceable or does the entire back shroud have to be replaced?

Thanks.

Fan shroud, common failure. I have heard it is very easy to replace. I think there are a few different versions used but you should find the part number on the one you remove.

You can replace just this piece.

If your car is a 95 you need part no. 964.106.403.02 ($85.50 from Pelican). If your car is 96-98 you need a 993.106.403.00 ($56.75 from Pelican).

I don't think all of the '95s use the 964 part.

I guess I need to search the forum better because I did search the forum before I posted my question, for a generic shroud issue, but since I was not sure what you call this thing, my search results did not yield anything that i was looking for.
Sorry for creating a thread that wasn't needed, apparently.

No worries - that's what the forum is for; to share knowledge. It is an easy DIY just be sure you have the right part. Sometime during the 95 model year they changed from a 964 part to a 993 part. Good luck.

For part numbers you can download the 993 parts catalogue from the following site. It is a very useful thing to have.
