Default suspension squeak?

I pulled my 993 out of hibernation today.

i noticed that over larger road bumps the front shocks would squeak under compression?
The car was serviced and aligned by the dealer just before storage so I didnt get a chance to notice anything until now.

(49000km, stock suspension)

The ride height was 4x4 from previous owner and i told the dealer to drop it down to proper factory height. I still have lots of room between tire and fender so i do not think the squeak is the result of being too low. I am by no means euro ride height.....

Other then that, the car runs beautiful and i enjoyed every minute of my ride home.

993 owners talk about the stock Monroe's being shot at 25k-27k miles. I dont think the squeek is shot suspension as much as maybe dry bushings after a cold winter. Was your car stored in climate controlled environment or a cold garage?
(49000 kms = 30380 mi)

Check the front anti roll bar bushes, I think Porsche issued a TSB about them sqeaking back in the day.

I also think it's more likely that the squeak is coming from the bushings, rather than the shocks....

Also, after 30K miles and 15+ years, chances are very very high that your stock suspension is tired and new dampers would transform your driving experience.

I have H&R coil overs on my shelf ready and waiting. However the stock suspension still really works well. I love how streetable the stock shocks are over bumps etc. Great daily driving suspension.

I will take a look at my bushing however.
thanks guys!

Maybe when things warm up a bit, and some more outings will resolve your squeeks. Can anyone upload the TSB?

If you think your current stock set-up is good, it's only because you've not driven your car with a new suspension yet. I think when you finally install fresh dampers, you'll see just how poor your current shocks are in comparison

I agree...I thought the same thing about my car, only I had 70k on the clock with monroes and M030 springs. I thought this, until I went on a quick drive in the local twisties, and accellerated hard out of a bumpy turn in 2nd gear, and the *** end of the car was writhing and wallowing, like a hookers *** on 7th ave.

My eyes got like this , and I knew I needed to address the issue...A set of PSS10's & M030 sways, and the same turn puts a grin on my face.

All I can say, is you're burning daylight!

How about spraying some lubricant on the rubber to metal contact points under the car?
I would even consider shooting some lubricant on the damper & strut rods.

The TSB is available on Mike's PCAR workshop web site (http://www.pcarworkshop.com/images/1...996_640596.pdf).

Porsche advise to lubricate the bushes with Vaseline, so if yours aren't shot giving a lube might solve the problem.
