Since you are still in the market, I just went through buying process of 993. I ended up getting 4S with 67k miles.
On the cab point, normally cabs command premium, but 15 year old cabs don't really.
I saw many good deals on the cabs, not as many on coupes, and there are only a handful of 2S or 4S for sale. So in terms of premium it's Turbo S>Turbo>2S>4S>coupe>cab. +5k for sport seats and -5k for tiptronic. But what's important is your purchase price, which depends on the condition of the car and its history. You can find a cab that cost as much as Turbo because of it's condition. Another point is how often would you use the cab top, even 911 manual says the top is not designed to be 100% waterproof. With age it becomes an extra maintenance expense. If you live in CA and use the top 2-3 times are year, then this is all non-issue.
Good luck with the hunt, find the right one.

Bought a 31K miles black cab 2 months ago to replace my 06 997. Although it does not have quite the performance of the 997 I absolutely love the car. I spent quite a few $ getting it right but its now like it should be.
Replaced 10 year old tires with new Michelin Pilot sports.
Replaced wheels with 18" Fuchs from Germany.
Replaced steering rack which failed catastrophically spilling oil all over my garage.
Replaced junk stock Monroe shocks with PSS10 and 4 corners alignment.
Fixed convertible top which had a cut due to failed elastics.
Fixed driver door strap and repaired damaged fender. (Fixed previous Mickey Mouse body work)
Changed all fluids and belts.
As you can imagine all this work was not cheap but had to be done since I want to keep the car for a while.
But now I am confident the car will give me many years of loyal service.

It's very common with low mileage cars to have deterioration to rubber seal or corrosion.
I knew about the shoddy bodywork to repair the door damage when I bought the car. The door strap is a common thing on 993s and if the door goes back the other way, both fender and door will need fixing. As far as the steering rack, they usually fail slowly, they develop slow leaks which increase over time. Mine failed suddenly emptying the content of the system on the garage floor. This was fixed by Beverly Hills Porsche.
So altogether it was another 10k above the purchase price.

Just waffling on about how great and what a bargain it is,
......and how many kids he's got lol.
I could be wrong.
Ps a 993 does not have a tilt/telescopic steering wheel.

I bought a 911C4S for $50k (which was about $5k under value at that time) and drove it home from Texas only to find out later it was a flood damage car and they knew it but never told me (clean carfax/title etc..) but one of their techs slipped up and sent me ALL the records on them fixing it under the table. They took the car back, no questions asked, even reimbursed me for my plane ticket and gas money home.

Nevermind. Found one close, Scotts Import Specialists. Accredited and A+ on BBB. They'll spend 2 hours with it for around $160. Any other suggestions on this car?
