mobile porsche repair
Hi everyone:
Last weekend coming back from a long ride my alternator belt broke. Actually
the nut that holds the pulley to the shaft came off and the belt shredded.
Luckily I was only 10 min from home and made it on the battery. My independent
mechanic is 30 miles away and I doubt I would make it to his shop. I searched
the web and found this mobile porsche mechanic. (Mobile Works West) Do any of you have any experience or knowledge of this company. Thanks
Thanks

Tom Amon. Been around the Bay Area for decades. Back in the Olden Days when I first got started in these things, he had a "regular" shop with Don Wise (T&D).
Can't speak a word to quality of what he's doing.
More importantly, if you have a relationship with an existing shop, a 30 mile tow is a no-brainer to just have AAA haul it over to their place. Even when one of mine has had an issue at home I've not bothered with towing to the shop myself, and get them to bring over a flatbed.

Maybe your battery is a few years old anyway and it is soon time for a new one.
Buy a new battery (less expensive than a tow/flatbed) and drive the car over early morning when it is cool.

But no way, no how did I give "just drive the car over" advice to customers for anything over maybe a few miles. I remember just going over to a customer's house, if it was at all convenient. Especially if she was single.........
And my personal experience with what would have been baby-sized engined cars back in those days is that ambient doesn't make a helluvalotta difference once you're past 5 minutes operation under load without an operating engine fan.
