Could someone send me a link where I can buy an OEM cover for my 911 3.2 1986?

Thanks!

The 911 katalog shows the part as 930 110 343 01. Sunset has a listing:

http://www.sunsetporscheparts.com/oe...he/93011034301

You might want to contact them before you buy to be sure it is what you need.

Let's not forget the potential problem of fouling the MAF with excess oil from the K&N filters.

With Mr. Fabspeed logging in here, I have a question for him.

Any cut away air cleaner for 993 does away with the vent tube from the clutch housing. I suspect this tube is there to satisfy some new law somewhere about clutch dust escaping to the atmosphere and roadway because there is no such piece on the 964 and earlier Porsche.

An unwanted side issue with this 993 clutch vent is that it adds dust debris from the clutch to the air cleaner element shortening its service life.

Removing the tube leaves a hole in the peripheral engine sheet metal.

Now the question: Does Fabspeed make a plate to cover this remaining hole?

I replaced the right side tray with the tip version 993 106 289 11 which doesn't have the hole for clutch venting. Also, the Fabspeed air box cover does have a place to mount the vent tube.

Thanks, 993 106 289 11 just what I was looking for.

I have a simple cutaway stock box eliminating the vent, and thought the Fabspeed was the same. Sorry for mistaken assumption.

I bought this part but haven't installed it. Since it only takes about two minutes, I don't mind giving it a "test drive".

My criticism so far is that the product description says "Constructed from Carbon Fiber reinforced plastic with stainless steel quick release clips." -- Which sounded like real carbon to me.

Or you could just buy a used stocker cover on ebay, spend a few minutes with a dremel cutting out the pattern and see what you think. Likely cheaper and yet the same thing.

Interesting. The cover is now basically a clip to simply hold the filter in place. How does this impact air intake temps?

I have yet to check the intake tempuratures and highly doubt that I ever will but I can tell you that the last time I drove the car in NYC summer bumper to bumper traffic with the A/C on I'm pretty sure the airbox was as heat soaked as it ever will be and I hardly felt a difference in reduced power..

Once you are on the go all that goes out the window as I did this to enhance the sound especially at WOT where it sounds like a proper air cooled engine...

Using a ~1" hole saw to create a series of holes in the lid would probably give you just as much sound and look a bit less hacky. Fairly common mod across all kinds of cars. I mean that's basically what the motorsound lid does vs. the normal lid, just to a larger extent.

On that note, anyone have a spare motorsound lid they'd like to sell me cheap for experimentation?

Keep in mind that behind the Chromed Snorkel is a baffle that extends to nearly the end of the airbox so when I hacked away at the lid I also removed that baffle...

I was running a fabspeed airbox and a K&N filter for a while. I am now of the opinion that proper air filtration is the most important consideration. If there is even a chance that something is getting by the K&N, It has no place on my car. Since the fabspeed box doesn't work with the Mahle filter, I don't use it any more. The Fabspeed airbox and the reusable K&N filter are available if anyone cares to make me an offer.
