Did the gt2 start life as a wide body or narrow body?

GT2 is wide bodied, it is effectively a 2wd 993 Turbo with the X50 engine option as a starting point, before "motorsport" additions are made!

993 RSR has the GT2 style flares, this variant is based on the narow bodied shell.

Hmm...I thought the GT2 was a FIA homologation car based on the narrow body. I for sure could be wrong here, but have heard this from others as well.

Wrong, GT2 is wide-body with fender-flares, you are confusing it with RSR which is the narrow body with fender flares (you will be very confused if you are told UK RHD RSCS was stickered RSR - it was not the real RSR but only a RHD RSCS).

The kind of arcane data that keeps me interested. Thanks.

This is the way I always understood the models:

Narrow body chassis:

993 C2 + C4
993 RS
993 RS ClubSport
993 RSR (bolted/riveted wheel arches on narrow body)

Wide body chassis:

993 C2S + C4S
993 Turbo + Turbo S
993 GT2 (bolted/riveted wheel arches on wide body)

A wee bit condescending to other knowledgeable individuals here perhaps?

I think you take it too sensitively. There are lots of misinformation on even the Rennlist so correcting them where there is an obvious error is not my idea of condescending as I have quoted the incorrect info and corrected it for the individual's info. I'm sure clubsport1 has no such ill meaning either. I should add that there are A LOT MORE knowledgeable folks out there than clubsport1 or I such as Bill Verberg who has posted on this thread.

That would be the correct grouping of the narrow vs widebody variant. RSR has RSCS rear wing whereas GT2 has a different rear spoiler as seen in Bill's posting.
