I am going to test this out this summer. The Tire Rack only charges $15 per wheel to do run-out and dynamic road force balance tires. They do great work, and never marked up any of my rims. Worth it.

If something is merely marked "outside" it can't also be directional without being sold to go on a specifc side.

Size 285/30 x 18 popular street tires like Sumitomo HTR Z III, P Zero Rosso, Continental EC DWS, just off the top of my head. All off them directional and asymmetrical. It is easy to see by looking at the treads that inside / outside pattern is different, and the grooves flow in the direction of rotation so mounting them on the opposite wheel while keeping the "Outside" marking out , reverses the grooves against the intended direction.
