Default Leather Seats - Treatment vs Replacement

What do you think about my seats? Should I simply buy other very expensive seats, or should I try to do a leather treatment and tint? Tell me about your experience. When tinted, does it come as ugly as before after a couple of months?

Yeah it looks like that. But the guy who I bought the car from was in wheelchair and he was swinging the chair to the passanger side... which broke the seat and the windshield...

How important to you is it to keep it original?
If yes, I would have them re done by a good upholsterer.

If not, go aftermarket, Recaro, Cobra etc... I have always like the Cobra Misanos.

Or you could try and dye them yourself, Leatherique products are top notch. I have only used their cleaner and rejuvenator oils though, which are excellent.

Color plus: leather dye

They have unbelievably effective products.

I would just look for some used stock seats, they generally aren't that expensive.

I think I'll give them a last chance... I'll try to treat them and see before replacing them. I'll show you the pictures once done.

Nothing will help where the seat is ripped (unless you can find someone to stitch it)

You can recover them. I have used Surflex leather dye and its great, as with any "paint" proper surface prep pays off in big dividends and in my case I let the seats sit unused for a few months before treating them with anything so the surflex really bonded in I dont know what that is on the passenger headrest, if its just discoloration and scuffs ..no problem to recolor

If those seats were mine I would just have them recovered or look on ebay for replacements, eventually you will find them in the right color and right price..I finally got a set of hardback sport seats for well under a thousand!!

I would replace with a clean, used set.

Hardback sport seats! or replace with someone's stock seats if you are a stickler for originality.

If the leather is not majorly torn the seats can be dyed and Lexalled. I would dye them black as future issues will be less visible. Even small rips can be fixed by slipping a leather patch under the rip. You can do all this in your driveway and you will be shocked how well it can work.

Your problem with these seats as others have said are the rips. I have not had good luck with fixing actual tears. Dyeing will make them look much much better but you still have the rips to deal with. I bought used sports seats for my SC then dyed them to change the color. I gave up trying to patch tears.

These are well beyond repair at a reasonable cost. You can pick up a very decent pair of beige (not supple leather) seats for $500 or so. Shipping might be an issue, but it'll still be cheaper than repairing these.

As an alternative, look around and see if anyone's willing to recover them for you. I don't see it costing less than $1K, probably closer to $2K for a decent job. However, heat can be added at the same time. And, trust me, you really want heated seats in a cab in MTL.
