No front sway bar will contribute to oversteer if you get yourself into an extreme situation. The car company default is to set the car up for understeer as most people react better to that situation. If you happen to need to perform an emergency maneuver and the car spins and causes damage, you may be liable for contributing to it because you modified the car.
In daily driving you will probably never notice the balance of the car is different.

No idea why my reply is appearing above the original post.

Default So front sway bar is broken...

...on my 2004 Lexus RX330. One link only. Unfortunately, its the bar and not the link so the estimate is $1000+ to replace. (Legit, since my son and I spent 9 hours in garage trying to replace with one I purchased on line from a Lexus parts dealer). Ended up quitting since estimate includes removing steering rack and catalytic converter (rear drive shaft on the AWD model adds a level of complexity to it). My question is legitimate here, the left has been broken for a while (connection to the link rusted through and snapped). This is a non performance car and has had minimal benefit for quite a while since we don't know how long it has been broken and the shift on one side would not benefit the other. Why bother changing it? I most likely will not notice a driving difference and we don't track the car.

Serious opinions, please? (Google search turned up garbage)

Thx, Brian

FYI: the old bar is out courtesy of a hack saw and an hour of cutting and the links can easily be removed so there would be no extraneous items flapping around.

Thanks, Mike. Funny thing is that the independent guy mentioned a similar liability issue. BTW: he wanted $1000 to do it and the Lexus dealer only wanted $650. Now that's a change, dealer cheaper than the independent. My guess how does the independent stay in business?
