Cab Premium Sound door speaker question

Cab Premium Sound door speaker question
I searched the archives, but am a bit unclear on this. Currently, I have RSR door panels with speakers. I'm ditching them and have sourced a pair of premium sound door panels without speakers or the speaker enclosures. If I go with a component speaker system (5 1/4" and 1" with crossovers), will I need to also source the oem speaker enclosures, or will the speakers mount into the door panels that I have (without oem enclosures)? I have an amp mounted in the trunk. TIA!

Most component speakers systems come with some sort of enclosures. The 5 1/4" will not be a problem. The tweeters will most likly be the issue. They come with installion kits that allow the tweeters to "stand up" or inserted (almost flush) into the door. If you want the ones that are inserted into the door, it may require drilling into the door metal to allow room for the back of the tweeters. If that bothers you, you will have to avoid those brands. If you look up any online (Crutchfield, Sonic), you can narrow down your choices and get a good idea of what's out there.
Edit-Just reread your post. I was thinking your going from premium to RS door cards and not going to premium door cards. Please ignore.

Thanks, e9stibi, but after looking at your photos, I am more confused than ever
Can someone give me a definitive answer on what fits with hi-fi enclosures removed? Possibly a link to another thread? I really don't have access to a pro installer, so this is something I have to install myself. Skills are limited!

I also mounted my crossovers on the same plate. The plate itself is made out of plywood and painted black, same as the one on the pics above. Works fine.
Or... if anyone is looking for Hi-Fi enclosures, I have a few I'd sell.

Can anyone comment on the sound difference between a custom install with 6.5" lower speaker vs standard size speakers in the stock hifi enclosure? I have a Cab, so maybe not a big difference?
Nile - how much for a pair of your enclosures?

the sound without enclosures and 6.5 speakers will be SIGNIFICANTLY better. I have so much more bass now that I do not miss a sub woofer. I would never consider to use the enclosures and are happy that I found a buyer for mine to create space in the garage. As said before, build your own simple bracket from ply wood: Cheaper and better ...

just a thought - any current aftermarket coaxial 2 way speaker used with even the $35 ones at BestBuy mounted in the standard speaker door holes seem to sound much better than the upgrade speaker enclosures that came with the 993 premium sound OE, go figure?

Thanks, e9stibi. I think you have me sold
So, to summarize, I need a 6 1/2" component system, such as one of these:
or
http://www.crutchfield.com/p_091IS16...65.html?tp=106
Then, I fab mounts for the 6.5" speakers out of plywood and mount the crossovers on the mounts, next to the speakers. The tweeters mount in the stock location at the top.
Any need or benefit for Dynamat as well?
Do I have this right?

Would this Focal system with built in crossovers work?

You can actually go with larger than 6.5" for your mid-bass.
I fit 7" Dynaudio in the existing spot, and like e9stibi mounted the mid onto the inside of the hi-fi enclosure.
