Default 993 replacement valves

What replacement valves are people using? Factory valves are sodium cooled both intake and exhaust and cost ~$150 each for Intake and ~$130 each for exhaust. It would be nice not to spend this much money

Options I have found are Schrick sport valves which are slightly larger than stock at 50 mm intake and 43 mm exhaust. The exhausts are made of Nimonic steel.

Another option is Intervalve but I know nothing about this company.

Any advice out there on the above alternatives or other alternatives?

Factory Valves are sodium filled both intake and exhaust only on Turbo and RS of the street version cars.
Other street engines is intake only.
For which engine you are looking for ? I might help...

Presumably the 8 mm stem changes heat transfer hence the sodium cooled intake, surprised exhaust not as well on all cars.

I'm building a Warm (not Hot) Rod from M64/05 and my original valves are shot and as long as I am replacing them would like to go larger valves . The Intervalve site does not show any product lines and valve sizes available and I wonder whether they are sodium cooled at all.

I was quoted same price here for factory RS or standard '95 valves - so a no brainer if I go OE. Thanks for help here.

If you are going larger valves, it is another story.
But if you stick to the M64.05 size, I have a set of 6 porsche turbo exhaust valves, brand new in boxes mothballed. Same as M64.05 but sodium filled.
Intervalves is Stainless steel.

Cripes, drove right by while heading up the Lukmanier Pass. I wish these places would pop out at you when you are there.

Thanks for the responses.

Finally after drilling around the Intervalve site I found a catalog here:

http://www.intervalves.ch/PDF%20Inte...s/Catalogo.pdf

Page 135 is Porsche and they do not list any valves for air-cooled after MY 1989, hmm...

Have you checked w/ Del West ? Ferrea?

As Geo says only RS has Na in the exhaust valve, the tt exhaust valves have Natrium filling.

When I rebuilt mine one option that was recommended was undercut ss valves.

But I went w/ stock RS valves

Natrium is Sodium (hence Na). Did I misunderstand what you were trying to say?

FWIW, I bought my exhaust valves from EBS (standard 993 size, Genuine Porsche) for ~$56 a piece.

Bill is a classically educated guy who uses Kalium, Plumbus, Cupro, etc. instead of the more vulgar modern language equivalents

I just came across that in reading one day and thought it was funny, sort of making the tt classier and the RS more vulgar as it were

Thanks for all the help with this guys.

I finally decided on a set of 1996 TRW valves 50/43.5 mm (1995 valves are 49/42.5) which are natrium filled on the intake side as was stock for 1996.

The other option would have been Schrick valves which are 50/43 mm and are stainless intake, Inconel exhaust and are similar in price to TRW.
