Have been chipping away at detaching wires, hardware etc whenever I could find time over the last couple of weekends. William fabricated the support for the torque tube.

LWF & clutch are on the way, and will the usual "while I'm in there" stuff for seals, gaskets, sensors, and check condition of timing chain, lifters etc. Not sure if SAI cleanout is in the works, since I already built the electronic override... so might just pull the air pump off and be done with it.

Next is bigtime cleanup, I think I might have the record for the dirtiest engine ever posted on Rennlist.

Any tips on how to engine clean with minimal mess, without hauling motor somewhere?
Fantastic, I cannot wait till my son is only enough for him to get in and dirty, he is only 6.

Wait, all these years I spent in the garage under the car my dad was supposed to be getting dirty with me and not just handing me the tools.....

Great stuff!

That is great. Something you both will always remember. 15 is a bout the age where the kids would rather be with friends, it's great to have something to do together.

Great photos and I always admire fathers teaching their sons. And sons willing to learn. Congrats on the engine dropped and new memories made

Nice job!

On the cleanup-I bought a large plastic oil drip tray years ago at Pep Boys. It sits nicely on the longitudinal base bars or my engine stand, and is larger than the foot print of a Porsche flat 6.

I buy drop cloths at HD that are plastic on one side, and at fibrous/semi-absorbent material on the other. Cut the drop cloth up into diapers that lay on the pan, and then spray away with brake cleaner, using proper gloves and resporitory protection. Then roll the diapers up as they get saturated, and dispose of properly.

He seems like a real good kid. Congrats. Now that he's done some hard work, when does he start driving lessons in the C4?
