Default TARGA sunshade question

I'm helping a friend with his 1996 TARGA top. The glass parts works fine & open & retract. The sunshade is rolled up for now.
At the moment there is only a left(driver) bearing bracket.

Questions:
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

- The sunshade is supposed to slide in to the bracket & the bracket slides to the moving part in the rail?

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

- Is this the correct part for the (RIGHT) passenger side-993 562 554 00?

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

- This is the way it's operating now with the sunscreen rolled up. Does it look normal?

Thanks in advance

I read your post the other day. But haven't had time to properly answer it.

As a quick answer, yes you have the correct right slip bearing part. Where did you get that Porsche print? Was this some sort of TSB? I've never seen it before.

Your video doesn't really show anything. You need to video the "pull-bow" (aka "knock-out lever") as it slides from the front to the back of the car. It has a pin on the outside which rides in a track. It should remain in the same track from start to finish. See if you can re-video this part moving. I will try to post a video doing the same thing if I can.

Here's a pic of the pull-bow piece I am talking about:

Thanks for the info & pictures.
I got that parts section from this TSB (page 16): http://www.pcarworkshop.com/images/a...1997_66037.pdf

I'm going to order these 3 parts for the passenger side & then I'll upload a video:

13 PART# 993 562 555 00 Lever guide
14 PART# 993 562 587 00 Lever guide
15 PART# 993 562 554 00 Right slip bearing bracket

Just remember you need 2 slip bearings (993-562-587-00) for EACH slip bearing bracket. And they are also used on the sunshade barrets (2 on each side). So, to be safe, I'd order 10 (they should be fairly cheap) this way you can change the old ones to the new upgrades and have a few spares. These slip bearings can wear a little any ways.

When I have a chance I'll try to video my shade.

uber911 (sorry, don't know your name) -

Here's a quick video of the pullbow from the inside of car:

There is a guide pin that I'm focusing in video which guides this piece in the upper track of the sunshade.

Hope this helps -

Sorry, but I have no idea why it posted this video twice!
