Default Door Sound Proofing/Speaker upgrade

Just completed sound proofing both doors on my cab. All the original tar type material had fallen and was also obstructing the window operation. Also was rattling around. This was a good time to lube all window tracks and upgrade speakers. I installed Focal PS165 components with the 4 crossovers in the door pockets. Super clean and accessible for crossover adjustments. Still need to install the amp and head unit. Feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions and I'll email a zip file with pics. Can't seem to load them for some darn reason. Products used were from Cascadeaudio. V-Max vibration dampener on the outside door skin with additional sound blocking audio foam. The inside door skin got the VB-2 vibration dampener. Needs to be applied with a heat gun.

The door panel went on fine even with a layer of insulation? Did you have to cut the panel to mount the 165's?

The panels needed to be cut for the 6.5 speakers. Most important is to make sure that you mount the speakers thru the panel directly to the door and not the panel only. Otherwise the weight of the speakers on the panels will eventually either break the panel or rattle. You will need to drill new holes all the way thru the panels into the doors. The VB-2 is a bit thicker than the original clear plastic, but really makes a huge difference in the quietness and solid feel of the door. Use the old clear door piece as a template for the VB-2. Cut the shape and screw holes only. Use the screws from the door panel to keep the VB-2 in place. Use large washers with the screws to help support the VB-2. Peal back from the top about 5 to 6 inches and press with hands. Proceed to fully install the VB-2 with a heat gun by working a small area at a time. As it heats it can be pressed into all the indentations easily. Go slowly and when done cut out the speaker opening only. Leave everything else sealed. Let me know if you have any questions with this procedure or if you need help with the component speakers and the crossovers I installed in the door pockets for ease of adjustment.
