I am installing B6 HD shocks with H&R springs which utilize the stock perch.
Which direction should the red dots on the perches face? Both dots nearer the bumper, nearer the firewall, or opposite each other?

My local alignment guru, Jae Lee of Mirage Motorsports, recommends swapping them side to side which enables the ability to gain a bit extra negative camber when used with B P10's or similar.
I currently have -2.1 on each front with the hats "swapped" side to side such that the dots still face forward.

Hmm... the OE hats are the same, L/R
I don't get it (this happens often, just ask Darin)
I only know that we have seen 993s with the hat installed 180 deg off
and when tightened it deforms the strut tower. Pretty ugly
IIRC, someone posted pics of theirs here also, a year or three ago
Here is one thread with pics of the damage: https://rennlist.com/forums/showthre...ferrerid=35947
