Default Mobil Delvac 75w-90 Source

Gentleman,
For my upcoming tranny fluid change, I needed a gallon of M1 Delvac.

The typical source is lufteknik or LN Engineering.

Luteknik offers it for $42, but the shipping was $34!!!! (see edit) and thats ground!

LN wants $80.

Well, I found a place that delivered it to my door for right around $50.

http://www.zorotools.com/g/Gear%20Oils/00065928/

Shipping is free over $50, so add a few household items for the extra $3.

Also, found a $5 coupon code, so basically $45 shipped

EDIT: seems my shipping was inflated due to order a few washers...how that adds $19, I'm not sure.

Thanks for the link. I just ordered from Lufteknic few weeks ago. Shipping to MD was only around $10, if I recall correctly.

they are in virginia, so that may be why.

I could not believe it.

edit: ok, so after checking again, its $15.

I had a few washers in the order the first time. I can't believe that this would jack up shipping by $19, but i guess anything is possible.

Good price.

If you do the tranny and the diff, you'll need slightly more than 1 gallon.

You can't beat that. Its even tougher to find up here as its only available in 20 litre pails through the one bulk dealer in town at $180. Shipping from Lufteknik or anywhere in the US (via ground) is out of the question.

Same here in Calgary, can only buy in bulk. Sometimes I ship to Montana but that is expensive for oil for what ever reason.

We just buy the 20l and share it among friends. (I need enough for 2 fills as I will probably going into my transmission after the engine is back together.)

For the gentle life my 993 leads, its not an issue, but I'm wondering what the huge difference is between Mobil 1 LS that I use and the Mobil Delvac, considering the numbers in Bill 993's post in a recent gear oil thread.

no problem.

I've run delvac and been happy with it, but there are plenty of other options, including LS that seem to work fine. I say use what you like.

Right, the front diff on your Turbo (and a C4S) holds about 0.6 liter. Seperate drain & fill plug.

Gents,

Best place to find Delvac in jugs is HD Parts Distributors that cater to Over the Road Class 8 fleets although pails is the primary volume seller in our industry.

Point of interest on the "robustness" of the Delvac product. Drain interval recommendation by Roadranger Transmissions (Class 8 trucks) is 300,000 miles!!

Another way to do it, for a great price, is to team up with another local Rennlister and buy a case for $158.00 (39.50/gallon) and split it 2 gallons each:

www.thelubricantstore.com

Under "Commercial Products" then "Gear Lube".

trouble is with shipping, you end up right back at $45, and you need to find 3 friends.

Guys you should use the locator on the mobile site also. Carter machinery here is a dealer and you can get a case of quart bottles for easier split up between friends. If you happen to know some one in truck parts and get a discount it's cheaper than some other options. I'm actually considering motul gl5 or ams oil gl5 now though after hearing some easier cold shift reports.

Are you sure it's Delvac 75W90? I don't think Mobil puts that in quart bottles.
