Yearly Maintenance Costs
I am in the market for 993 and was wondering what are and how much the yearly costs of running the car less than 5,000 miles a year as a weekend driver. These would be typical maintenance items on a well cared for example with 50,000 miles. Do most on this forum use an independent garage or a Porsche dealer?

No one uses a Porsche dealer to maintain these cars. Or at least they shouldn't.
Less than 5K miles a year will be relatively cheap to maintain. 30K and 60K service is not cheap, but at 5K a year, they would come up infrequently. More expensive are the slippery slope mods, like new suspension, which a 50K mile car probably desperately needs, if on the stock one still.
If you buy a loved example and maintain it properly, these cars are not money pits. But if you buy a neglected example, they can be. Big ticket items are new clutch and a top-end rebuild, both which you should be on the lookout for at around 50K miles. Other than that, you're good

Rough numbers, figure about a $1 per mile for maintenance, tires, and insurance. Not including fuel and mods. Some years it might only be about $0.50 while others it might be >$1. But this will help you start a budget. Don't want to be fun car full and cash poor.

Pretty much everything you need to know can be found here:

Make sure you do a PPI. Running cost is about the same as any 15+ year old car. I wouldn't worry about top end rebuild too much. There are many cars running around with higher miles without engine rebuild. There are a few common and well documented oil consumption/leak issues that can be fixed permanently at a reasonable cost.
The highest cost of ownership is actually coming from this forum. These folks are really good enablers. And yes, it is absolutely critical to get the RS sun visors.
