Location on engine & chassis #'s ?
My turbo is sold. The buyer has requested that the contract of sale state the engine and chassis number along with the VIN. Does anyone here know where these numbers are located? Thanks for the help....Chris

engine number vertically down on the right of the engine fan.
Introduce camera with flash on , between base of fan and A/C stand, and take pictures, to read number.
Chassis number IS the VIN number, engraved on chassis behind spare wheel (besides plaque behind windscreen, etc)

An abundance of caution I suppose. It looks as if the intercooler has to come off, and while many of you can do this in your sleep, I will have to drive to Annapolis to Tif's..hour and a half each way. Washing and waxing is the outer limit of my mechanical skills when it comes to Porsches...hard on the checkbook but easy on knuckles and ego....Chris

as I described, take a thin small camera, or mobile phone, flash ON
with your hand inside, knowing where the number is engraved, take pictures and that's it, honestly

with some finagling, you should be able to see it without IC removal.

Well, it took me about 10 minutes to take pictures I was unable to read. Then it took about an hour to retrieve my I phone from where it got wedged when it slipped out of my hands. First I thought, I'll just use my magnet. At the last second I recalled that magnets and computers don't go too well together...one more thing I learned the hard way. Then I got out my little grabby claw tool. I felt like I was playing that machine that has the claw and you try to pick up a crappy stuffed animal and drop it through a trap door. Finally got the phone back. Then I used my little telescoping mirror with my new led mini flashlight that forces your hand back when you turn it on there is so much light coming out of it. I got the number! There is not enough room under that intercooler to change your mind, let alone the fan belt.
Thanks again....Chris
