This has been discussed before but I couldn't find the topic. There is a number written on a small unpainted patch on the rear chassis. I think I read somewhere that it had to do with the bare shell being marked before it entered the paintbooth.

Any more info on this? Mine is a 1993 built Euro C2, just wondering if there is any logic to it or is it just a number Klaus made up on the production line.

That's the complaints department 1-800 number. Scrape off the paint to the right of it and it will reveal the other 7 digits.

I have always understood that to be an identifying number matching a build sheet, pre-VIN.
